How To Choose Surf Shorts

When you're choosing surf shorts, which are also sometimes known as board shorts, there are a couple of key things to look for and to bear in mind. The first thing is that these are generally as the name suggests, these have a lot to do with surfing, beach side holiday type culture. That's generally when you're looking at the fabric of these.

They do tend to have that swim wear feel to them. What does distinguish them from just general plain swim wear usually is the pattern. They tend to be quite brightly colored.

They can be patterned. They have that real surf feel to them. The second thing is the length.

They generally are much longer than plain standard swimwear. I'll just give you one comparison. Lengthwise, these general swimwear swimming trunks - see, they are much less patterned - they are little bit shorter.

If you're looking for that real surf feel, notice the pattern. Notice the texture of the fabric. They do have that holiday feel to them and that's generally where you'd be wearing them, generally with a pair flip flops, tank top, t-shirt, sunnies, maybe a big floppy hat.

But you can wear them in a much more urban setting as well. Just keep the look really, really casual. Keep the footwear casual.

You might wear those with a pair of plimsolls, a pair of trainers, a t-shirt. I wouldn't take this look formal at all. It just won't be congruous with the fun beach side nature of the shorts.

This is generally good for somebody who's quite youthful. It can be an older gentleman. I think you've got to have that fun creative side to you to be able to pull that look off.
