Hi, there. I'm Abi Cleeve, from Ultrasun. I've been in the sun care industry for thirteen years, really helping people to make the right decisions on their sun care choices.

Today, I'm going to try and do the same for you. When choosing the right sunscreen, it's very important to remember who it's for and how they'll be using it. With sunscreen, we have chemical and physical filters, and some products contain both.

The chemical filters absorb the UV radiation to help us protect our skin. Physical sunscreens reflect the rays away from our skin, and that's how they protect us. Some products have a mix of both chemical and physical, so be aware of what your choice is.

When choosing the right sunscreen, you really need to consider the UVA, UVB, and the SPF. Now, that might seem like code, but UVB rays are the rays we feel. They're the rays that hold the warmth of the sun, and can cause our skin to burn and go red.

Very important to choose a high UVB. The new legislation shows that a high UVB starts at the level of 30. A very high starts at 50.

So, you really need to decide where you sit. I would never advise anybody to use less than a 30 UVB, even in England. UVA rays are the shorter wavelength, and while we don't feel them, they will help cause premature aging and even damage to the skin, so it's very important to use a high UVA filter as well.

If you look on the back of any product, it should tell you not only the UVB, or SPF, but also the UVA protection. Sometimes this is done as a percentage, sometimes as a UVA symbol with a little circle around it, but it's essential that you look for both of those elements in any product you choose. If you're choosing a product for children or babies, make sure it's a sensitive formula.

It should say this right on the front of the packaging, should either be targeted directly to babies or toddlers, or should say sensitive. So, always look for the right formulation for the right skin, but make sure you have the high UVB, or SPF, and a high UVA filter as well. And that's how to choose the right sunscreen for you. .
