If you are out in the sun the whole day, you need to use a sunscreen for your face which has a high SPF. After applying the sunscreen on your face, you can then apply your makeup.
Hi there. I'm Abi Cleeve from Ultrasun. I've been in the sun care industry for 13 years, really helping people to make the right decisions on the sun care choices.
Today, I'm going to try to do the same for you. When choosing sunscreen for the face, it's important to find a formula that really suits your skin. A lot of manufacturers actually make or put up specifically for the face so where ever possible you use these.
They could have anti-aging properties. They could be very light use that work well under makeup. But of course, the most important rule is to find a high SPF for using with a high UVA as well.
Our faces are out in the sun all day, everyday. Even in the winter time, our face is still receiving the UV radiation. Now, that can cause premature aging of the skin and contribute to the skin damage.
Very important to protect even in the winter. A lot of face creams these days have an SPF added. You may find in your moisturizer now, that there's an SPF attached to that and that's fantastic.
The more SPF you use, the better but please be aware that those SPF are not photo stable. They can be broken down by the sun and they're often only protecting you for about the first hour of the day. You could layer some protection underneath your moisturizer and that would give you fantastic all day protection.
It's very important that your sun protection goes on first. So, put that on first as soon as you've cleansed or showered or whatever your morning routine is. And then apply your moisturizer and eventually your makeup on top.
You should allow about ten minutes in between each application stage. Many manufacturers that are producing face formulas are using these like a primer so that they leave your skin with a matt finish, ideal to either moisturize or to put your makeup straight on afterwards. I choose Ultrasun's face formula for this very reason and also because it's a once a day product.
It will stay with you the whole day through so no need to reapply over your makeup later. So, when choosing your sunscreen for the face, make sure that you're choosing a live formulation that works well under your makeup, make sure it's long lasting so you don't have to think about reapplying it and always choose a high protection and don't forget you do need to protect in the winter as well. .
