Step 1: Ability

If you're a novice there is no point picking an expert board as you will need be able to balance on it or control it. Spend some time researching before you go into the shop.

Step 2: Weight

You need to be able to carry your board with one hand and fly through the air with it strapped to your feet, so make sure it doesn't feel too heavy.

Step 3: Bindings

The bindings need to be secure enough so the board doesn't slip off mid flight but light enough for you to get your feet out quckly if things start going wrong. Test the straps before you buy them by slipping you feet in and out in the shop.

Step 4: Grab Handle

Some boards come with a grab handle. This is a small handle in the middle of the board which allows you to do tricks in the air, such as taking the board on and off your feet, mid jump. If you're just starting out then this is probably not for you, but some boards have detachable grab handles so the option is always there for later.

I'm sorry but thats one of the worst bit of info ive ever seen on a kitesurf board.. 1, Weight is one of the last things and newbie will need to look at. 2, handle... more for ease of use ie geting in and out of the water then tricks... in landboarding then yes the handle is for tricks but not in kitesurfing. 3, what is a "expert board" this means the kiteboard will be stiff and short for the more advanced kitesurfer. if a newbie gets a board thats too small or to stiff it will make his/her learning a lot harder and they will also need more wind in there kite and at a beginner stage this is not agood thing. 4, footstraps... all new kiteboards should now come with adjustable footstraps so they can be adjusted to fit your feet with ease this can be done in seconds. i hope this helps people if you want any more info drop us an email or give us a call... good winds. angelo S2AS Team www.s2as.com
