How To Choose The Right Land Board

Guiding you through the maze of land boards available, to find the best one to suit your needs.
-
Step 1:
-
Ability
-
It's dangerous to start off with the fanciest, top of the range board if you don't know what to do with it. Novices should choose a cheaper, more basic board which will be longer and heavier, and so slower for the first time rider.
-
Step 2:
-
Deck
-
Decks are made out of different materials. Cheaper boards tend to be made from laminate wood which are slower and less springy. More expensive boards are made out of more composites which are much more flexible and far poppier for higher jumps.
-
Step 3:
-
Weight
-
Make sure you are happy with your board's weight. You'll need to be able to hold it on your feet and move it quickly if you need to.
-
Step 4:
-
Bindings
-
You need to be confident you can get your feet in and out of these quickly so test them out in the shop if you can. Lower range and older boards will have the velcro bindings which are great for beginners who fall off more. More expensive boards have ratchet bindings which can be pulled tighter to hold the board in place when jumping. This is not advised for beginners who may need to free their feet quickly.

Step 5:
-
Grab Handle
-
Some boards have grab handles in the middle of the deck which allow you to take the board on and off your feet mid jump. These are definitely for the more advanced flyer, but a board with a detachable grab handle means the choice is always there.
