How To Choose The Right Styling Products: Different hair styles require different types of products, and deciding which is right for you can be difficult. This brief tutorial teaches you how to make the most effective choices.
Hello. My name's Andrew Jose of Andrew Jose Salon in Charlotte Street, London. How to choose the right styling product: Now, without a doubt that the magic that comes into any hairstyle is the finishing touch; the last little bits that you put onto your hair.
Now, you're going to have an array of different choices. What I've done with JLife is to try and be very specific about the use of each different product, and that's how I'm going to help you guide your way through choosing the right thing. So again: think about the way that you want to invent your hair.
Do you want it to be fantastically shiny, or do you want to have defined curls, or for the hair to lay very smooth? And that's the key that will take you to the product that you want. So what's the first one that comes to my hand? Perfect Wave. It's a lotion.
Look very carefully. It de-frizzes and defines the curl of your hair. Again, what advice does it give you on the back of the product? Does that truly help you get what it is that you want out of your hair? If you're in doubt, always ask your hairdresser, "What have you used on my hair?" And don't be shy.
If it's too expensive for you, actually say, "Is there another alternative? What else could I use?" if you don't want to take the one that they're using for your recommendation. Now, different things. There are curling lotions, there are volumizing and smoothing mousses that are non-sticky, just very, very creamy.
If your hair is lacking in volume, then you want to go for something like a root-boosting product which literally helps your hair stand up off the scalp and gives tremendous lift to the hair. If you're a guy, you might want to use a styling product that's stiff. A wax is a perfect thing.
Literally, you can see this is a wax stick that you push up, you apply directly to the hair, and you're away. Or even a matte paste, which ”like I wear my hair” just sticks up right the way through, but completely water soluble. Other products that you'll see are sea salt sprays, which is essential oils and salt, which gives a very dry, textured finish, right the way through to silken groom, Sunset Surfer, which is a grooming crÃme which gives Hollywood glamour to the longest of hair or very, very sleek oily looking shapes for shorter hair.
So you will find a product that's absolutely specific to the style that you've got. But be guided by the end use. They often will have more than one particular interpretation, but you may find that you need a different product for each way that you want to style your hair.
But you will have choices, and let your hairdresser be the guide. .
