Interesting video by Cecilia Chan discussing how to find vintage clothing bargains in styles and colors suiting your personal taste, and discussing a few aspects of vintage clothing repair and selection.
In this video, I'm going to show you how to choose vintage clothing. At first, you might find it quite daunting. Walk into a vintage store or a vintage style warehouse.
There are a lot of styles and lots of colors, fabric, texture, and you might not want to kind of follow the kind of style, or you don't want to end up looking like you've just stepped out from the sixties or the twenties. So I'll just go for a few styles that I always like to choose. The reason I'm choosing vintage clothes is you can end up with something really delicate and one that, like, no one is going to have.
Like this beautiful beaded full length dress, if you end up in the right place or the right type, then you end up picking out a bargain like this. I bought this from a really small town in - almost in a junk yard. Another fine example is I picked up this from a child tea shop.
You can see the work and the how - all the lovely pleats that's gone into this, and for this, I've actually like taken the hem up myself. And something to be aware of when choosing vintage clothes as well, what you find is with a lot of the jersey material, they're quite easily damaged or just because over time, and for these examples, I have actually used kind of gathering fabrics and kind of like covering up the damage. See? So, just be careful when you're choosing.
You know, be aware that they are old clothes but there are still very like good quality and you can just, like, mend and cover up and there you have vintag- like clothes that you can wear to suit your own style. So, the final touch is really to remember to go for the style and color that really suits your personal taste. Sometimes, you can find real gems like these in child tea shop or junk yard, so just keep your eyes open for real bargains and places like that.
And finally, just be creative in picking something that suits you and it will last you for years to come. And also watch out for any damages that you can possibly mend yourself. And that's how you buy vintage clothes! .
