If you want to be an expert in the sport, you have to get a good pair of wakeboard bindings which should fit you perfectly and also be comfortable.
Hi. My name is James Hooper. I've been wakeboarding for 10 years now, and also a Liquid Force Team Rider.
I'm going to tell you a bit about how to pick out wakeboard bindings. Over here, as you can see, we've got many different types of wakeboard bindings. We've got the Velcro-strap, we've got lace-strap and we've also got a mixture or Velcro and laces together.
As you can see here, that basically is down to personal preference and how the binding feels on your foot when it comes to picking out a set of bindings. Your foot's going to be in the binding majority of the day when you go for a ride so it's important that it's kept comfortable and it feels good on your foot, not causing any discomfort anywhere. When I pick out a set of bindings, I try them on, I leave them on my feet for a while and I really get used to it.
Such an important thing is having a good set of bindings. As you can see, we have got different styles here of lace up, we've got the single lace, we've got the double lace system, it's where you've got 2 sets of laces that you can adjust them or tie and they will vary on the price range what sort of lace you're going for. And when it comes to sizing up a pair of bindings, most of the top of the range bindings come in shoe sizes now.
So you have your 7 to 8, 8 to 9 but that's your top of the range. But when you have your bottom of the range bindings, they're more of a multi-fit binding so you have a bigger size gap. So you have a 7 to 10 size fitting boot but that's the lower end of the range, that's someone who's purely doing it for recreational use.
If you're more of an advanced rider, you're learning, you want to progress, you go with more advanced binding and have the more specific size boot to your foot. So it's very important you try it on and make sure it fits. You get binding the wrong size, it's not very comfortable and it can also be dangerous when you're out doing the sport.
Some of the best brands I would recommend for wakeboard bindings, my favourite brand is Liquid Force, closely followed by O'Brian and then you've got your Ronex and your Hifly bindings, also very good manufacturers of bindings. My favourite by far is Liquid Force. And that's just some of the advice I can give you on how to choose a pair of Wakeboard Bindings. .
