A common question we get is how to claim an attendance allowance. Now, attendance allowance is a disability benefit for people age 65 or older when they first claim. Obviously, you've got disabilities and health problems that affect you.

To claim attendance allowance, you're going to need to fill out a form. So basically you've got three choices there. First of all, you can get a form sent through to you that's through the government help line.

It's called the benefit inquiry line and basically you'll need to give them a call. Telephone number to call is 0800 88 2200. If you give them a call today, your form will actually be date stamped from today.

So obviously, hopefully you won't lose any money and get that form back nice and quick. Two other options as well, first of all, you can download an attendance allowance form from the internet. The best place to go about finding that form is to visit the direct gov website which is direct.

gov.uk. If you tap in attendance allowance into the search bar, basically you'll be able to get an attendance allowance form from there.

You'll be able to download that print that off and complete it. The third option, if you're a bit of an internet wiz, you can actually claim attendance allowance online now. Once again, you'll find the links on the direct gov website and generally it's the DWP e-service and you can actually fill out the form actually online and actually send the form through that way.

So that's how you're going to need to be able to claim attendance allowance. You need to obviously fill out the form, pop it back in the envelope or send it back in an envelope to the relevant address.
