There is a benefit based on the national insurance contributions and there's also a means tested version as well.

So the means tested version takes into account your income, your savings. And you can also combine that with your partner as well. Okay, so how do you claim employment and support allowance? Well basically, like all benefits, you'll probably need to fill out a form.

But first things first, you're going to actually need to make a telephone call to the WP. Now, the number you need to ring is 0800 055 double six double eight. That's 0 eight hundred 055 double six double eight.

They'll have a conversation with you. They'll probably book an appointment with you with the job center as well and they'll start to get that form completed which you can obviously then send off once it comes through. More than likely, you're also going to need to go and see your GP as well to get some kind of medical certificate to kind of kick start your claim.

You can also claim online. There's the DWP e-service which you can actually access for employment and support allowance. And also, you can download the form from the direct.
