How to Claim Income Support: This video will explain what income is and what it does as well how you can apply for income support and take advantage of its benefits.
Hello, my name is Lee Healey, and I'm the managing director of Income Max, the title expert. We help people to make sense of and understand the benefits in tax credit system. Today, we are going to tell you lots about the benefits and tax credits that are available.
Here's a quick guide to claiming income support. Income support is a means tested benefit for working age people, but in order to qualify, you normally have to be in specific groups. So for example, you might need to be a loan parent or a carer caring for a disabled person.
You might have to be getting statutory sick pay for example, normally you'd think about claiming income support if job seekers allowance wasn't relevant for you because you weren't able to look for work and seek work and take on a job, or because perhaps you're not able to qualify for employment and support allowance because of your health problems or disabilities. So in that sense, income support is kind of like the third benefit you'd normally think about claiming when you're over working age. Now, how can you actually claim income support? Well basically, you normally need to kick start it off by calling the Department of Work and Pensions.
Now, the number to call is 0800-055-66-88. That's 0800-055-66-88. If you give that number a call, you'll actually be able to kick start off your income support claim.
The alternative is to claim online. The Department of Work and Pensions now has an e-service and you can normally access the DWP e-service by the internet, at direct.gov.
uk, or direct from the DWP website. Don't forget, income support is designed to top up your income. So if you're in a low income, income support is designed to top you up to government's level.
Basically, to make sure you have enough money to live on. For more information on income support, it's always a good idea to visit the disability alliance website. They have fact sheets on all the different benefits that you can claim.
Visit the disability alliance at www.disablilityalliance.org.
And that's pretty much a guide to income support. .
