Hi, there. Before you have a barbecue, you need to know how to clean a grill because you must clean it before every use. If you have a look at the yellow gloves I'm wearing, they are covered in grease.
I always like to do this job outside and I use a conventional kitchen scourer. I have the luxury of having a tap outside; what I'm going to do now is just give these a really good ole' rubdown, like that. Right, when I've given that a good old brush, you don't have it completely clean because if you think about the concept of a barbecue, you are going to put a hot coal on here.
What I like to do is just rotate the actual grill by about ninety degrees every two or three minutes when the coals are really hot and that is going to kill off any bacteria that is on there. But you do find, particularly, if you have left it, you know, if you have left it all winter and there has been some bacteria over there, don't worry. All we are doing is using this wire brush, giving it a good ole' scrub and like I said, these, you can pick up from any supermarket.
But if you come in and have a look, this barbecue, the grill is now perfectly ready. I haven't used any soap on there and you want to avoid trying to do that because we have got lots of natural oils in there which are actually going to enhance the overall barbecuing, so much the same way as a wok where you throw some soles in a wok and just give it a good ole' scrub. You do want to keep those in there but that barbecue is now ready to go.
In fact, if you just come in and have a look, I've cleaned it, I've cleaned it out. The bottom one, you don't need to worry so much about, but that is now ready to go and that's how you clean a barbecue grill. |This VideoJug film aims to show you how to clean your grill for the next barbecue you are planning to have.
