Step 1: You will need

Step 2: Personal items

Before you start on the sink itself, it's a good idea to clean the items around it. Remove all non cleanable items first, be carefully when handling toothbrushes and razors. If the only place to put the items is on the toilet, lay down a cloth or paper towel first.

Put any soap dishes, cups and containers in the sink. Squirt a little cream cleaning product onto the abrasive side of the sponge and give them all a scrub. This removes any soap scrum and grease marks. Rinse the items under hot water and place to one side.

Step 3: The sink

Squirt a generous amount of cream cleaner all around the sink and taps. A cream cleaner is best as it coats the sink without scratching it, and is non toxic. With the abrasive side of a sponge scrub the entire sink. Pay particular attention to any lime scale deposits or stains. These will usually be found around the plug and directly under the taps.

Rinse the sink and sponge with cold water. Take you time doing this as cream cleaner can often leave residue

Step 4: Sparkling taps

To get a good finish on the taps squirt with a little bathroom spray and polish off. Jacqueline recommends using paper towels for this job as they don't leave lint behind and polish well.

Polish any other metal parts on the sink, such as the overflow inlet and plug. This will give the sink a gleaming, finished look.

Step 5: Finish up

Remove any splashes from the surrounding area. Carefully replace the personal items around the sink.

Step 6: Done

Perfect. Nice work Jacqueline

I agree, the sink never should get dirty. Keep a kitchen washbrush (preferable over scrubbing brush as that over time WILL make things less shiney and more difficult to clean) and a little detergent nearby, and give it a quick do every day or 2, and it never gets dirty. The tap will always be shiny and beautiful - and no product residue as with cream cleaner! If you want a spray, add a teaspoon of detergent and a teaspoon of ammonia cleaner to a spray bottle and fill with water. Use on sink, tap and mirror and it'll all shine!
