How To Clean A Gutter

I'm now going to show you how to clean out gutters. It's important to clean out gutters to stop any blockages, obviously, for the rain to be coming down the roof and so they're free-flowing so you see the water discharges and there are no leaks and no problems, basically. So basically, all we're going to have to do is make sure there's no debris on the roof, no dust that can obviously block up gutters and down pipes, so basically, we're just going to give it a little tap, just give it a little sweep just to stop any problems.

This is just a standard half round guttering that you'll probably find on most common roofs. It's the most common gutters and it's the right one for this particular roof which is a slated roof. It's not too steep.

Obviously, if it was a steeper pitch, you need a deeper flow gutter and a wider gutter to collect the water. But this one, because it's quite a shallow pitch, this half round guttering is sufficient for this particular roof. We sweep this last debris up and once I've swept that out, we know now that the gutter is free-flowing and there'll be no blockages caused.
