How To Clean Coffee From A Carpet

Clean A Carpet Stain: Coffee. When you spill coffee on a carpet, your first reaction might reasonably be PANIC. However, removing annoying coffee stains is not as hard as you might think. Here's a quick and easy way to really lift that coffee from your fl

Step 1:

You will need…

  • some mild carpet cleaning shampoo
  • several white cloths or kitchen towel
  • 1 teaspoon
  • some lukewarm water
  • 1 spray bottle
  • 1 heavy weight, for example a book
  • several clear or white plastic bags
  • rubber gloves
  • 1 mixing bowl or jug

Step 2:

Blot up coffee

Act quickly.Blot as much coffee as possible with some kitchen towel.

Step 3:

Check carpet type

Natural fibers such as grass, sisal or wool should be cleaned professionally.
Before applying any solution carry out a patch test- choose an area out of way and apply small amount. Wait for a few minutes to ensure that problems do not develop. If they do, immediately rinse the solution with some cold water.

Step 4:

Carpet Cleaning products.

Make sure carpet cleaning products are applicable to your stain. If you are not sure consult professionals or keep following these steps.

Step 5:

Dampen carpet

Spray clean water onto the stain. Make sure water is not too hot. If you do not have a spray bottle, use a sponge.
Blot with kitchen towel and repeat until the stain is gone.

Step 6:

If the stain remains…

Add 0.25 tsp of carpet shampoo to 1 ltr of warm water. If you do not have a shampoo, any colorless non-bleaching detergent will do.
Remember to carry out a patch test.

Step 7:

Massage the stain

Dampen clean cloth with solution and lay over the stain.
Use the bottom of the teaspoon to massage solution into the stain. This will protect your carpet fibers from being damaged by excessive scrubbing. Work from outside of the stain in. This will prevent the stain from spreading.
Blot with kitchen towel and repeat till the stain disappears.

Step 8:

Rinse

Spray clean water onto the stain to remove any remaining detergent. Be careful not to over-wet the carpet. Blot and repeat till detergent is gone.

Step 9:

Complete absorption

Stack kitchen towel over the stain, cover with plastic bag and put heavy weight on top.

Step 10:

Wait

Leave over night to ensure that all water is absorbed

Done
