How To Clean Contact Lenses

We show you how to clean and store your contact lenses. For this film we are using soft disposable contact lenses. We show you how to clean and store your contact lenses. For this film we are using soft disposable contact lenses.

Step 1: You will need

Step 2: Wash and dry hands

Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water, then make sure all the soap is rinsed off. Use a towel to completely dry your hands so there is no water left on them.

Step 3: Remove contact lens

Remove the first contact lens from your eye. To see how to do this, you can watch VideoJug's film called 'How to remove contact lenses.'

Step 4: Rub

Put the lens into the palm of your hand and pour some cleaning solution onto it. Gently rub the lens onto the palm of your hand with your finger for about thirty seconds. This will loosen any build-up of protein or dirt on the lens.

Step 5: Rinse

Pour some rinsing solution onto the lens to rinse off any debris.

Step 6: Store

Place the lens into the lens case, remembering to put it into the correct compartment for the left or right eye. Fill the compartment with storage solution and close it.

Step 7: Repeat

Now repeat this procedure for your other contact lens. Your lenses can now be safely stored away until you are ready to use them again.

    Yaeh, but what about when you want to take them out of their case? Then how do you do that without spilling your contact lense down the sink?

    It helped to see how you rubbed the lens. I was afraid od scratching it somehow but I can see how rubbing it with your finger would not hurt it.
