The most stressful part of the morning after a major party is the fact that every surface is covered in a layer of bottles, cans, ash, beer, food and general party debris. The first thing you need to do is rope the random strangers who you've just woken up beside and threaten or bribe them into helping you clear up.

Rather than continual trips into the kitchen give everyone a bag and place a bucket in the centre of each room taking one room at a time.

Pour all the drinks into the bucket and bin all the bottles and cans making sure you keep them separate for recycling.

Pour anything left in glasses into the bucket and collect them on a tray before taking them into the kitchen and straight into the dishwasher.

Finally check all surfaces, under furniture, in plant pots and basically everywhere to find the inevitable stray cigarette butts and bottle tops. After you've done this you will be at peace with yourself and ready for a serious breakfast.
