Just a note I've super heated butter before on accident and you can do the same with water. What can happen is, when you reach in to take the water out after microwaving, it looks calm but when you move it, it basically explodes. At least that's what happened with the butter. Water from the tap will not superheat in the microwave unless it is free of any mineral or other forms of deposit. Microwaves normally heat those particles in the water, causing the water around it to heat up. In short, as long as you're not cooking mineral water, you're good. If you do boil mineral water, just throw a wooden spoon in the cup and it should do the trick. (Yes, it's safe to boil tap water. It contains minerals.)

I just watched this vid and just cleaned my filthy microwave. Didn't work like magic but it was pretty useful, the vid makes it look so easy, you still need to put in some force but it's way easier than scrubbing it all day.

Tried it. Not as easy as all that. You still need to use detergent and a lot of elbow grease.

It will only super heat and explode if you have a perfect surface on the glassware. This is almost impossible because even the tiniest imperfection would allow the bubbles to form.

The lemon juice does counteract that effect. Pure water will superheat when it is not agitated. So if it has both lemon juice, and it is on a turn table, you will be ok.

won't the water become superheated? Usually you put a chopstick so that the gas in the water has something to work with. Otherwise, you get the water very hot, but it doesn't evaporate into a gas (i.e. boil), and when you pull the cup out the superheated water explodes causing severe burns. The lemon juice might counteract this, though.
