Step 1: Photoshop Software

How to colorize a black and white photograph. You will be needing only one tool. Bingo! Photoshop. Now let's start by scanning your photograph and loading it in PhotoShop.

Now this will be our sample picture. Now click "layers" and then click "new layer." Now right click on the new layer and go to "layer properties." You can type in any name.

Step 2: Select The Tools

Now carefully trace the outer limits on the visible skin using the pen tool. Also trace the eyes and mouth to exclude them.

Now click "path" and then right click and select "Make Selection." Then choose a skin color. Using the paint bucket, fill in the color inside the selected area. Now go to layers and then select "color."

Step 3: Layers

Now click "new layer" and again, give it any name you like. Now using the lasso tool, we will mark the eyes. Choose any eye color. Now using the paint bucket, fill the color in the eye. Set color and then repeat the process with the other eye.

Click "new layer" and then give any name you like. Now using the pen tool, trace the lips. Similarly, color the shirt also. And voila, we are done! If you like you can mix your color balance and give your snap a professional look. That's all for today folks, see you next time.
