Step 1:
-
Prepare
-
Before you rush out to an interview, you'll need to be ready with a list of questions. Remember, this is your home, sweet home, and you want to share it with someone you can stand.

Step 2:

Choosing The Venue
-
There are two schools of thought here. Some err on the side of caution, and opt for a neutral, or public, meeting place. This way, if you feel like you're dealing with a undesirable candidate, they won't know where you live, and you'll feel safe. Or, you can conduct the interview at the apartment or house you'll be sharing. You might consider having a friend join you.

Step 3:
-
What To Ask
-
There are a few key things to ask before letting a complete stranger move in. Are they looking for a new best friend, or do they just want a place to crash? How do they handle doing the dishes? What hours do they work? How often do they want to have overnight guests? What about the kitchen -- do they cook a lot, are they vegetarians? Do they play an instrument, and if so, when do they practice?
Details like these can be deal breakers. Thorough interview questions may save you the dreaded "This really isn't working out" conversation... which will ultimately have you looking for a new roommate, all over again.
