Hi, I'm Rene Millman and this is Absolute Gadgets, and today, I'll be talking about the Xbox 360. In this video, we will be showing you how to connect to Xbox live through a laptop. Now, some of us may not have an ADSL router or modem and we need other ways in which to connect to Xbox Live with our Xbox 360's.
It's quite easily done if you have a laptop with a mobile broadband, a dongle to you and me. If you have internet on your laptop, it will be very easy to set up the laptop with what's called a DHCP server. DHCP stands for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol.
What that does is assigns IP addresses and an IP address is what the Xbox needs in order to connect to the internet and also to Xbox Live. So once we have set up the DCHP server on here, it's just a matter of then connecting your Xbox 360 Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on your laptop. You've just got to find it in there and plug it in.
Now you will need a cross over cable, a normal Ethernet cable won't work because they won't talk to each other with a normal Ethernet cable. You have to have a cross over cable. Once that is connected up, you can go into your settings to test the network connectivity on the Xbox and when it comes back all successful, you are good to go.
And that's how to connect to Xbox live through a laptop. .
