How To Cook Asian-Style Chicken Noodle Soup

How To Cook Asian-Style Chicken Noodle Soup: VideoJug presents a chicken noodle soup which is a favourite dish the whole world over. This is a quick and simple Asian-style recipe with some added tang. Delight in our Asian-Style Chicken Noodle Soup recipe.

You Will Need

  • 4 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 2 peppers, deseeded and finely chopped
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 150 g carrots, shredded
  • 1 1⁄3 ltr chicken stock
  • 4 boneless chicken breasts, cut into small chunks
  • 60 g rice noodles
  • the juice of 1 lime
  • 3 Tbsp coriander leaves, chopped
  • 4 fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • a small handful of bean sprouts
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 large soup pot with lid
  • 1 wooden spoon
  • 1 ladle

Step 1:

Heat the oil

Pour the oil into a large soup pot and place it over a high heat.

Step 2:

Cook the vegetables

When the oil is hot, add the sliced onion, garlic and pepper, and cook while stirring for 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Next, add the shredded carrot and the stock and stir. Cover the pot and bring the soup to a gentle boil.

Step 3:

Add the chicken and noodles

Once the liquid has started to boil, add the chicken and leave it to simmer for 5 minutes. Now add the noodles and simmer for a further 5 minutes.

Step 4:

Add lime juice and serve

Remove the soup from the heat and add the lime juice to give it a slightly tangy flavour. Finally, ladle it into soup bowls and garnish with the chopped coriander, a basil leaf and a sprinkling of bean sprouts.

I guess this is the videojug way of making chicken noodle soup because this is not how they make it in Asia, i know because i'm Asian.

PLEASE SPECIFY THE SIZE OF THE LEMON TO BE USED. OR GIVE A MEASURE (QUANTITY). LEMONS VARY IN SIZE AND THEN THE FOOD BECOMES VERY SOUR. THANKS
