How To Cook Clams

In this tutorial Richard and Paul, fishmongers at Fin and Flounder, give you a bit of information about clams, and talk you through how to make the classic Italian dish linguini alla vongole.

Ingredients

  • 500 g clams
  • white wine
  • garlic
  • chilli
  • parsley
  • linguini
  • olive oil
  • salt

Method

Make sure your clams are tightly shut before you cook them, and open after you cook them.

Start cooking your linguini in boiling water.

Heat some olive oil in a frying pan, add some chopped garlic and chilli and cook for 1-2 minutes until soft.

Add your white wine, and once it starts steaming, throw in your clams with a little salt, pepper and chopped parsley. Cook with a lid on for 4-5 minutes, then mix with your linguini.
