This video talks about how cook corn on the cob
Hi there! I'm Matt from the underground cookery school. And today I'm going to do a video cookery lesson for you. Today I'm going to show you how to make or cook rather, corn on the cob.
It's very, very simple. What I've done here is I've just cut the cob into half and with a skewer just put a little hole in coz it presents nicer and people can eat it like that if they like. A bit like a cartoon character.
But what will happen is those go into a pan of boiling water and it's brilliant, all you need to do is just leave it for about, I'd say 3 - 4 minutes and that is it. So come back in 3 or 4 minutes and we'll take out the sweet corn. So those have been cooking for about I should say 3-4 minutes, so I'm just going to drain them off.
You can see the color has completely changed from a sort of pale yellow to a very bright yellow, and those are now beautifully cooked. Just to add a little bit of extra flavor what I'm going to do is just rub some butter in there. I always like using unsalted butter, i use unsalted butter in all cookery cause you then have the option of adding salt if you like, which i will probably do but at least you then have control over it.
One very nice recipe that a friend was telling me earlier on was once you've rubbed a bit of butter or even olive oil, you can then just add a bit of parmesan, possibly just even a touch of paprika as far as serving up is concerned you can leave it like that and as I've said you can put the skewer all the way through. Even pick it up. If you're looking for other ways to serve it then what you could do is just cut it straight of the cob like that and then obviously serves it accordingly.
But in this particular case I think we'll leave it like that. You get the basic idea, all you need to do is boil it, add a bit of butter, add some of flavor on top of that, and there you have the perfectly cooked corn on the cob.
