How To Cook Mackerel
Mackerel is a very simple and versatile fish to cook. In this tutorial, Richard from Fin and Flounder shows you how to select and cook mackerel.

Ingredients
- 1 mackerel, whoel or filleted
- olive oil
- butter
Method
When choosing a fillet of mackerel, look for clear, glassy eyes, dark, blood red gills and a firm stomach.
Mackerel can be pan-fried or baked in the oven.
To pan fry a fillet of mackerel, place skin-side down in a pan with a dash of olive oil and a knob of butter and fry for a minute and a half. Flip over and fry for a further 30 seconds.
To bake, place the mackerel whole inside some kitchen foil and cook in the oven.
