Ingredients

  • 120 g basmati rice

Method

Soak the rice in cold water for around 30 minutes to soften the grains. Drain the rice through a sieve and run under a cold tap until the water runs clear, this will get rid of any excess starch.

Place the rice in a pan and cover with cold water. For the absorption method, use two parts water to one part rice. For 120 grams of rice, you should add 240 ml of water. Place the pan on a low heat and bring to a simmer. Once simmering, put a lid on the pan and leave to simmer on a low heat for 10 minutes.

Once the rice is cooked, remove the pan from the heat and leave to rest for 5 minutes, then fluff up with a fork before serving.
