Hello. I'm going to show you how to cook a trout. I think this is a beautiful way of cooking it.
There are a number of ways but, first of all, just open the cavity and a little bit of salt and pepper in there. Now, I've got a few ingredients that I've prepped up, so I've got some chopped onion which I'm just going to put in. I mean, it doesn't have to be chopped or diced.
You could just have it any way you like. Over here, some garlic as well, and lots of fennel seeds, I think those really work nicely. I'm going to put some thyme in there and I'm just going to rub a little olive oil in to the flesh like that, and this pan is actually quite hot now.
So, if we lay our trout on there, just to give it a good old sealing, and then I can flip it over in a second, there we go, and just to make life easier, I'm going to use this, easier for me. But if I flip that round, a bit of black pepper and salt, as I've said, and what I'm going to do is I'm just going to finish this off in the oven. This is going to take about twelve minutes, something like that, so in it goes and in about twelve minutes time, we'll come back and have a look.
Right, well, it's as I said, been about ten, twelve minutes. Actually, that handle is quite hot. See.
I've been a bit too cocky there, let's get this out. Now, as you can see, I mean, I really wish you could smell this because it's just gorgeous. We'll just get this old fellow, or woman, out of the pan.
Beautifully cooked, all the way through, all those lovely flavours - that, to me, is how you cook trout. .
