220° c  -  430° f

Ingredients

  • 200 g sirloin steak
  • 20 g butter
  • 2 vegetable oil
  • salt
  • pepper

Method

Heat up a frying pan on your stove, making sure that the frying pan gets extremely hot. Once hot, add 2 tbsp of vegetable oil and heat it until it starts smoking.

In the meantime, season your steak with some salt and pepper on both sides.

Return to your pan and add a small lump of butter, but only when the oil has started to smoke.

The next step is to place the steak in the frying pan. Allow the steak to colour on both sides. At this stage you do not want to cook the inside too much.

Place the steak in a baking dish and put it in the hot oven. Your steak will take about 5 minutes in the oven if you are looking for a medium-rare steak, about 10 minutes for a medium steak, and about 15-20 minutes for a well done steak.
