How To Create 1940s Hairstyles
This video gives the step-by-step procedure to creating a 1940's hairstyle using a simple brush and some spray, which can be easily replicated at home if you're interested.
I am going to do a look today that's 1940's. When I think of 1940's, I think of stars like Rita Hayworth and also got to remember back then, they didn't have hair dryers and products that we do now, so everything was set in rollers, so it's really good and important to prep the hair first. What I did today, I am using rollers.
I curled the hair with deep iron first, through the top area. We are going to keep the hair quite almost a little bit severe and quite hysteric. That was the look at that time and we are going to cliff this area here, pin out the sides a little bit and then, we leave the back quite natural.
We are just going to back comb the top area, we go to have the cliff just to get a little bit of the body at the roots, we do not need to do too much here and we are going to section the hair from the temple on each side and we just get that. I am going to clip that away for the time being. So what we are going to do, we are going to smooth out the front area.
We are going to some brush and use a little bit of hair spray or I can use a bit of serum actually to keep the hair sleek there. What we are going to do, we are going to barrel curl that around and grip that into place. I am going to do the same on the other side, I am going to use a serum spray just to keep the hair more glossy and it gets more than fluffy area through the hair and through the crown area.
We are just going to blend that area with the rest. Now, I can work on the top hair. What we are going to create at the front is a barrel curl going forward so you need to use the spray and brush, it takes a lot of brushing in this area but I am not going to brush it from the root because I have got back hair coming in there.
So I do not want to remove any of that and what you want to do is create barrel curve in this area here, we could just grip that and we can leave the back quite low. That's my 1940 hairdo.
