How To Create Summer Hairstyles: Retro Waves

So, what I've done first, I've sectioned it off from the crown down to the back of the ears. So, we're going to leave this section out through here, and at the top, what I've done is I put a few common rollers in, just to give it some body at the roots. And also, we've used the hair tongs to achieve the waves that we want to use for the final hairstyle.

So, I'm spraying some really strong hairspray onto the hair and then I'm going to put the tongs in and these are going to help set the waves. You hold it in place for about 15 seconds. Okay, so now we have the front which has been tonged and we're going to comb the rest of the hair into a side low ponytail using a hair band.

Now, what we're going to do now is we're going to use one of these donuts just to put it to hold the bottom of the colored band and then we're going to pin it in with some grips. Okay, so that's held in place. Now, what we're going to do is we're just going to twist the ends of the hair and just wrap it around, very, very loosely around this ponytail here and then we're going to pin it in.

So, using your grips, what we're going to do is just literally push it straight through the bun to hold that in, and again, it doesn't matter how messy you want the bun, you just want it to be nice and easy. Okay, so once you've placed your bun and pinned it in place, what we're going to do is we're just going to brush through these tong bits through the top, creating a kind of retro wave. So, what I've done is I've just brushed through this front section here, and now, we're just going to pin in the sections to the back of the hair, just keeping it nice natural waves and simple kind of look through the back.

And there we have it, a nice summer hairstyle with a few retro waves. .
