Hi. I'm Tina Farey, editorial director for the Rush Education Group and what I'll be demonstrating for you today is some editorial hair ups. Okay, what I'm going to demonstrate for you today is a crimping technique used with some straightening irons.
What we're doing is we're working with some pins like this. You'll find these in any sort of chemist booths anything like that, and obviously, they look like a silver prong there. Obviously, you need them quite long as well especially when you're working with long hair because you need to get the hair on the whole pin.
So, we're working with almost sections to almost like a, you know, a good inch wide, and we're working up, inserting the pin into the hair, and we're working with a figure of eight technique. So, we're working around the pin with the figure of eight as our guide, we go around the pin almost in and out like so, and pushing each section down until you get all the hair on the pin. When you get to the end of the pin, you want to hold down and neatly twist the edge of the pin which will secure the ends nice and secure for you.
Once you've got them all in, you're going to take your irons and again, not for too long, you know maybe a couple of seconds on the pin as you go through. If you wanted to create a little bit more of a frizzy texture, you could hold the heat a little bit longer. As we just want a nice crimp, you know as you say, a few six seconds on each one is going to be ample.
Okay, let that cool down a little bit and then we're going to start removing our pins. So, what you can do is unwrap the end of the pin and then almost push up and grab the pin out. That's the easiest way to get the pin out of the hair.
So to show that again, unwrap the pin and we're going to push the ends up and pull out of the hair. Then again, what we're going to do is once we finish the area that we're crimping, we can comb that out and we're going to get this lovely crimped effect from the hair. So there you go, how to crimp hair using straightening irons. .
