Today, I'm going to tell you how to cure a hook, and a hook is where the ball spins from right to left, in the direction you don't want it to go. Step one is to understand what actually causes a hook. Cause one is where the right hand is rotated too far round to the right hand side of the grip, the way to correct this is to move the hand back round to the left hand side of the grip.
For more information, please watch the video “How to Hold a Golf Club”. If the club on the ground represents the target line, then the hook could be that the club moves too far from inside the target line to outside the target line. The correct swing path for the golf club is to come from slightly inside the target line, back to the ball and then back inside the target line.
Cause three of a hook is where my hips stop rotating as they come near to impact and my body continues to rotate. The cure to this is to make sure I continue to rotate my hips all the way through impact and beyond. Cause four is where the hands are up too deep behind you and this forces you to swing on a very circular path into the ball.
The cure to this is make sure the hands are further forward at the top of the swing and we can come into the ball at a much more shallow angle. So, in summary, the ways to cure a hook include making sure your left hand is in the correct position, if your swing path is from in, back to square, back inside again, that your hands aren't too deep at the top and that your hips keep rotating through impact and beyond. And that's how to cure a hook. .
