How To Curl Your Hair With A Curling Iron

How To Curl Your Hair With A Curling Iron: You can curl your own hair without having to go to a hair salon in this step-by-step instructional video demonstrating how to do tight and loose curls.

Hi, I'm Edward Hayes, I'm a hair stylist at Andrew Jose hair center in London. This is how to curl the hair with a curling iron, so what I would say is first of all, make sure you've got heat protection spray, and today I'm going to use the "JLIFE heat shield". If you just spray a fine mist on the head and comb through the hair generally starting at the ends, working your way up to the mid-lengths, and then just up to near enough to the roots, and when you're using the curling irons generally, don't take such a thick section.

You don't have to be perfect with your section but just take a reasonable side section depending on your hair techshop identity when you do open up the tongs. Go to that two inches from the roots, wrap the hair around, then just pull in gently. Now you don't have to go too close to the roots but if you want to get more volume, I'd say go as close as possible without burning yourself.

Just wrap the hair around and when you get near the ends, just close the irons like so. Just hold it in there for about 25 seconds, you can even do it longer if you feel the need to. Just release.

Now that's just more, a bit more of a looser curl. I will show you on the next section how to take a tighter curl. When doing this, generally do this on at least 95% dry hair and try to take all the moisture out of the hair prior with a hair dryer or just towel dry and let it dry naturally off, but just make sure most of the hair is dry.

I'm just going to hold the irons on a bit longer to make it a tighter curl and then you can twist it under just to get it a bit closer to the root, and then you can hold your fingers touching the hair to feel it heating up obviously. When you're doing the back of your hair and you can't reach there, try not to because you will burn your fingers and you can just slide up. Just release the iron and let it slide up naturally and it will almost set like a ring.

That's a bit tighter than the first curled hair, this is a bit more loose, this is a bit more tight.
