How To Deal With Heat Exhaustion

How To Deal With Heat Exhaustion: VideoJug shows you how to deal with heat exhaustion caused by overly strenuous exercise. This can be extremely dangerous, so just follow these simple steps to avoid any serious health damage caused by heat exhaustion.

Step 1:

You will need

  • 1 oscillating fan
  • drinking water
  • 1 cloth

Step 2:

Get the person to a cool place

Or use an oscillating fan to help cool them down, and loosen any tight clothing.

Step 3:

Raise their legs

Now get them to lie down and elevate their legs. This will help to improve the blood flow to the brain.

Step 4:

Drink plenty of fluid

Like plain water, sweet fluids, or a saline solution of 1 teaspoon of salt dissolved in a litre of water. Make sure you support the casualty's head while they are drinking.

Step 5:

Cool person down

Now dampen the person's skin down with a cloth that's been run under lukewarm water.
Even if the person is unable to drink any fluids due to nausea or vomiting or if there is no improvement after 1 hour, seek medical advice. If the person makes a quick recovery they should still see a doctor
