How To: Deep Fried Chicken
In this Videojug clip, Matt Kemp, from Underground Cookery School, gives a demonstration on how to make deep fried chicken. He clearly explains all the ingredients that go into the making of the deep fried chicken and also the sequence of steps involved.
I am going to show you how to make deep fried chicken. Very simple! First thing we are going to do is coat the chicken in bread crumbs. So, its a three tiered process.
First, coat the chicken in flour, then egg. So, you can see I have got latex gloves, as it is quite a messy job, and then finally, bread crumbs. Bread crumbs - the way I make them is just take your bread, grate them in your food processor.
You can grate them if you don't have a food processor, and then that is the desired effect. So, we are just going to do it one more time. Right, those are now beautifully coated.
I am going to take my gloves off. So, that's the beauty of using them and I have got a deep cut fryer here and if you don't have a deep cut fryer, then a tall source at the moment, it should work about, a 150 degree is I think a good temperature. Those go in.
We are going to cut these off probably for 5 or 6 minutes. Right, those have been cooking for about 4 to 5 minutes. They are quite big pieces.
I am worried that they won't be cooked right the way through. I don't want them to cook anymore. They might get burned.
So, what I am going to do is take them out. You can see what I mean here, beautiful colour, and I am going to shove this in the oven for about 5 minutes on 150 degrees, just to make sure that they are cooked all the way through. It?s not really going to affect the amount of bread coating, but it will make sure that they are cooked all the way through.
Right, time to take the chicken out! That will be cooked beautifully all the way through. As you can see, there is no real detriment to the overall colour. But it will be cooked all the way through.
It?s going to please the production team no end when they eat this in a minute. There you are. How to deep fry chicken.
