Too many steps given to descale. They should be shown as one step but different option. I initially thought I had to do all the steps. Apart from that great advice. And you've even got the same old kettle as me.....

Good but we are shown raw lemon juice being added to the kettle without knowing how much water is inside or whether the kettle is boiled or not.

Why so complicated? 1 cup of water and 1 cup of white vinegar, pour into kettle, boil, leave to cool, swirl around and pour out. Rinse well, fill the kettle with clean water, boil again, throw out ... done! Been doing this for years and never needed cloths, bicarb or lemons!

I've been cleaning my kettle using vinegar and water (50:50 ratio) a good tablespoon of table salt. I bring the solution to boil and let it work until it cools down. This is the only effective way if you have a thick layer or scale.

For toilets I highly recommend a commercial descaler called Scalesol, which is just dilute hydrochloric acid. Still pretty strong stuff which requires careful handling, but is incredibly effective.

Thank you 1 descaled kettle thanks to an old bottle of lemon juice! thats £4.00 saved on kettle descaler - just a reminder to everyone.. lemonjuice will foam up ! Don't be tempted to overfill the kettle with mix like me.... IT WILL OVERFLOW WHEN YOU BOIL IT!!!!
