We're going to show you how to do a ballet chasse. So we're in the center in third position. Let's put the hands on the hips while we learn the chasse.

Chasse means to slide, so we're going to take a demi plie first of all in third position, then we slide to a demi plie in second position, then we transfer your weight up and close. Let's try the other one, demi plie one, chasse two, transfer three, close in front four. Good so let's break that down, take the demi plie in third position keeping the back straight and pushing the knees out over the toes, demi plie one.

Good, keep the eyes lifted, take your chasse to second pushing the thighs out and two, good, transfer three. Really making sure there is no waist on that toe and it is really rotated in second position, and close. And let's go back the other way, demi plie one, chasse to second two, pushing the thighs out, keeping the back straight, transfer three, fully stretch the legs and transfer the weight and close in front four.

We can also do chasses en avant and en arriere. Chasse en avant means forwards, let's try chasse en avant. And plie one, chasse two to fourth, transfer three and close four.

And chasse en arriere which is backward. Plie one, chasses two, transfer to degage three, stretch that foot fully, transfer four. Good, you can also have a chasse passé which changes feet.

So face the side girls, and we're going to use the back foot to do a chasse passé en avant, so it lifts up and over, under one to a demi plie, chasse en avant two, transfer, fully stretching the back leg, and close. And the chasse passé en arriere, so use the front foot, up and over, under one, that's a demi plie again, Chasse en arriere, making sure your weight is in the center ion fourth, transfer three, fully stretch the leg, and close four.
