How To Do A Bar Spin
The Bar Spin is a simple BMX trick that is great for beginners. Bar spinning is simple to pick up and adds flair and excitement to your bike riding. Jason Forde of Team Extreme shows VideoJug how to pull off the Bar Spin.
Step 1: Positioning
To perform a bar spin your peddles need to be parallel with the ground. If you have a short bike and can place your rear heel on the rear peg without the foot leaving the peddle, try this as it can aid your balance.
With the peddles flat, pinch the seat slightly with your inner thighs just above the knee whilst leaning back and gently pulling up on the handlebars. This will create a small wheelie.
Step 2: Spinning
As the front wheel lifts off the ground, push the bars round clockwise with your right hand. Be smooth but firm. Keep an eye on the left grip as the bars spin, and once it returns to it's starting position, catch it as cleanly as possible. This is all a matter of timing.
You can practise this move whilst keeping the tire on the ground, and just passing the right grip to the left hand in a 180 spin. This will help you learn the technique before moving onto the full 360.
