How To Do A Bouffant Hairstyle
In this episode of Hair With Hollie professional hair stylist Hollie Kiernan shows you how to do a 60s style bouffant updo - it's all very Mad Men!
- Tail Comb
- Kirby Grips
- Hair Clips
- Backcombing Brush
- Hair Spray
Step 1: Section The Hair
Start with a deep side parting, using the arch of your brow as a guide, then section the hair at the ear and clip the top section out of the way.
Step 2: Roll Up The Back Section
Backcomb the bottom section of hair using a tail comb, then apply some hair spray. Roll the bottom section of hair up to the split using your fingers, then pin in place using kirby grips. Using your comb, cover over the sides of the roll and secure in place.
Step 3: Top Section
Split the top section of hair into three and clip the two front sections aside. Split the back section in two and backcomb the front part using a backcombing brush, then roll it up and pin in place.
Step 4: Smooth The Bouffant
Smooth over the bump using the middle section of hair and pin in place. Wrap the front sections of hair around the sides of the head and pin in place.
Step 5: Finish The Look
Roll up the remaining hair at the back and pin in place. Finish by smoothing any flyaways and giving it a good spritz of hair spray.
