Okay, so in this section, we're going to learn how to turn from forwards to backwards, also known as the bum twister. While doing this, you need to allow your body to work independently, with your top half and bottom half both doing separate things. Effectively, they're doing the opposite.

So you're going to skate around, glide on two feet, arms out by your side. You're then going to rotate your upper body around, facing that direction, keeping your feet facing frontwards. After three, all you're going to do is switch your feet completely around the other way, so you're going to be skating backwards, your upper body stays still.

One, two, three, you bend, you rise up and turn. You can repeat that several times on the spot, twisting from one direction to the next. It's very important to come up out of the knees as you're turning.

I'll go and demonstrate that moving now around the circle. Rotate into the circle, bend, rise up, turn to backwards, and continue your glide. I'll show you that one time.

This time, focus on your upper body and see how it stays exactly the same. Rotate into the circle, bend, rise up, turn, my body's still facing in that direction. And that is how to do you turning from frontwards to backwards, the bum twister, on ice. .
