How To Do A Bunny Hop Jump
This video clip demonstrates some basic techniques by a professional while performing a bunny hop jump. It explains the effective use of the left and right feet and your hand movements to gain speed, lift up and land to perform the hop.
Okay, so now, we learn a basic jump, a bunny hop. So, you got to use some skating skate glasses. So, this is the first introduction to jumping off the ice.
It's fun for the kids and when you jump on the ice, it's very important to make sure that the last thing to leave the ice is your toe. So, you bend first, you push up upon your toe every time you jump. With this particular jump, you are going to land back on the toe of the other foot.
I will explain a bit more in a bit about that, okay. So, what I do first is to demonstrate to you first and then come back and explain how we achieved it. So, you start by getting a little bit of speed.
Okay. You are going to hop off of your left foot onto the toe of your right foot then landing on the flat of your blade on the left foot again. I will demonstrate that for you.
So, you hop off your left foot, toe, flat. I will demonstrate that once more for you. You pick up a little bit of speed and then as you can see, I am swinging out right foot through to land on the toe of that right foot.
The left foot then follows through and you can continue gliding until it lands on the flat of the left foot. I will skate. I will show once more.
A little speed, push up of your left toe, right foot and then stop. One of the things which is pretty important is that you are actually using your arms to get the lift up off the ice and the knee bends. As you hop off the left foot, you are swinging your right arm forward.
As the right foot swings forward, your left arm comes towards you. It clearly offsets your feet. So you get that motion in the air and that is all about bunny hop on the ice. .
