Hi. My name's Desmond Aspill, and I've been teaching gymnastics for twenty years, and today we're going to break down some of the difficult elements of gymnastics so that it's more approachable. With Tekne gymnastics, we try to make things more approachable, building confidence and making gymnastics fun.

So moving on to the cartwheel. So, as you do the cartwheel you're going to lunge forward. You're trying to extend the cartwheel as long as you can go, and keeping everything stretched out, your arms stretched out, lunging forward, and taking up as much space on the ground as possible.

Your legs must be straight; otherwise you're not going to be in a straight line. What I'm going to do, I'm just going to ask Emma to just show you one, and we're going to go through it after that. The problem with cartwheels is having the confidence to make them as long and as stretched out as you can, pointing your toes.

If the cartwheel's short, you're going to end up probably turning and falling. So in order to keep control, keep your limbs straight, arms straight, toes pointed - everything stretched out as long as you can.
