How To Do A French Braid Updo

How To Do A French Braid Updo

This tutorial shows you how to style your hair into a French braid updo. This look features a French braid across the back of the head which is pinned into a bun to one side. Hair stylist Hollie Kiernan shows you how to do this beautiful and elegant style.

Products Used

  • Babyliss - Conical Wand
  • Tail Comb
  • Kirby Grips
  • Hair Ties
  • Schwarzkopf – Got2be 2Sexy Big Volume Hairspray

Step 1: Prepare And Part The Hair

Start with tousled messy hair. If your hair is poker straight, you could use a curling iron and run a few curls through it before you start. Part the hair into a deep side parting.

Step 2: Start The Braid

Start with a section parted just before the ear and split it into three sections and begin your French braid. Carry the French braid on all the way around the head until you get to the opposite ear. When you get to the end just secure with a hair tie.

Step 3: Make The Bun

Loosen the braid with your fingers or a tail comb, just to add a bit of texture. Roll the braid up into a bun and pin into place with some kirby grips.

Step 4: Secure And Finish

With the front section of hair that you've left free, curl it and pull it back into place. Finish with a spritz of hair spray to hold the look in place.
