Hi, my name is Desmond Aspill and I have been teaching gymnastics for twenty years, and today we are going to break down some of the difficult elements of gymnastics so that it is more approachable. With Tekne gymnastics we try to make things more approachable, building confidence, and making gymnastics fun. With the Handstand we need to have a very straight body.

When you put your arms, you might think your hands are straight, but in a handstand they wouldn't have to be. So everything is stretched out, the body is as straight as it could be and maintaining it to your hands. So as Philip goes up the Handstand, he is controlling it all the way through his body in his hands, keeping his body as tight as possible so he can control the whole way.

You can come down now. So when you are on Handstand, you are looking at the ground. You are just able to see your thumb, concentrating on keeping the whole body as tight as possible, pointing your toes, squeezing your abdomen, squeezing your bottom, squeezing everything as tight as you can, and controlling it through the hand.
