Hi, I'm Tina Farey, Editorial Director for the Rush Education Group. What I'll be demonstrating for you today is some editorial hair-ups. First of all, a little tip here is most of the time if the hair is too clean, quite often the ponytail is quite fluffy.
So, I would recommend that the hair is, you know, wash it the day before just so that the hair is not too flyaway. What I'm using here is a Mason and Pearson brush, which again is very fine, sort of natural bristles which will really enable you to get a very tight ponytail, rather than using a comb. So you can really get a lot of grip on the hair.
What I'm doing now is starting to kind of work underneath the hair. It is important that the head is slightly tilted back. Fingers are working out at a 45 degree angle.
Therefore we are going to get a really, really tight feeding through the underneath. This needs a little bit of work, so keep brushing, and working with our fingers at that 45 degree angle. So once I've got the ponytail in place, what I'm using is an elasticate hair with two curly-grips either side.
This makes it easier for you to keep the real tension on the ponytail. So, working the curly-grip on top, and then rotating the elasticate around, working underneath the curly grip to begin with, pulling that nice and tight, and then working halfway through with the clip, in fact through along the scalp. .
