Hi guys. My name is James McGranaghan and I am the Managing Director of J'amies Gymnastics Academy. Our leading branch is based here in Peckham, South East London.



Today, I am going to take you through a variety of videos all based around the sport of gymnastics so hope you will enjoy them. In today's video I am going to show you how to do a press handstand.

Now, if you are focusing the Videojug video of How to do a handstand for beginners that's going to take you through the process of how handstand is actually worked and actually going to get the right result but today I am just going to take you through the next stage of a handstand once your handstand is perfected to different variations you can do with it i.

e. how to do a press of the handstand.

There are three stages in order to do the press handstand.

The First stage is the fairly you have to perfect your actual press up now there are couple of ways peoples will teach you had to do a press up. Some people will tell you to do with your elbows out to the side. However, predominantly gymnasts will do a press up with their elbows in towards their body.

This is a technique that you need to adopt if you want to get your press handstands correct.

OK, stage two of the press handstand is a technique you will do within a controlled environment obviously we are in a gym so obviously today I have a set of mini parallel bars across mat and that surrounding. Obviously, this can be done at home but obviously please make sure that if you do to it than you try within as controller environment as you can and please make sure that you don't do anything to hurt yourself.

If you are doing this at home you can do this just up against a regular wall however for today I am going to demonstrate a handstand which I am going to place up against the across mat and in from there I am going to adduct the press up shape that we saw in stage one in the handstand stage. So, hopefully this will give you a good idea of how strong your body is and how you can cope with doing a press handstand.

OK, the final stage about press handstand is obviously to put together what we have learned in stage one in the normal press up and stage two in the press handstand against the wall.

Now, always stressed you by to home this do take time to perfect not only to perfect the stability of your body but to get your body in a condition where it can take the stress so that you are doing a press handstand.
