Hi. My name's Matt Dilworth. I'm a Saturday Intermediate League goalkeeper, and I also run and manage my own Sunday League side.

And today, I'm going to take you through some football basics to help get you started. This is how to do a football warm down. A warm down is just as important as a warm up.

It's going to take place after your match or training session, and it's with the idea of reducing the body temperature, heart rate, and reducing the chances of picking up any knots or strains or becoming stiff. You would use a lot of the same drills as you do in a warm up: light jogging. Very occasionally, you would use the ball drills just to reduce and slow your tempo down.

It's important not to forget to do plenty of stretches at the end of a game; the same scenario applies as a warm up. Make sure that you stretch all the important places: your calves, your hamstrings, quads, upper body, not to miss anything out and make sure that you're stretching everything, again, to reduce the possibility of being stiff and picking up any unnecessary knots and strains after a match. That's how to do a football warm down. .
