Over the last 20 years, exercise bike workouts have become really, really popular. Most gyms now have spin classes. However, you don't actually have to join a class to have the same kind of workout yourself.

As long as you've got an exercise bike at home or can use one at the gym, you can have exactly the same as ours. Now, the key thing to doing an exercise bike workout, or a spin class, is to mix it up. I want to introduce you to interval training.

Interval training is when you go hard and then, you go easy. You go hard. You go easy.

Ideally, you make it quite random. Now, when you're cycling, another thing to think about is posture. You want to sit up straight, hand firmly on here.

Notice my back is straight, it's not curved. Always keep it straight otherwise it's not going to feel that back. As I'm pedalling, I'm pushing down and pulling up on the opposing foot.

Everything's very controlled. When you start an exercise workout on a bike, always start off nice and easy. You may have some injuries you don't know about.

You might be tight. You might be tired or stiff but in a few minutes, really soft and easy, you give your body a chance to wake up. If anything's really tight, have a stop and stretch out.

So, there are quite a few different things you can do. You can start off your standard, normal cycling, as we saw. You can go fast, really toughen the legs, burns more calories.

You can stand up. You can sit down and use your arms more. Again, it burns more calories.

You can also change resistance. You can make it easier or make it harder. Every machine will have that dial.

So, to recap, start off slow for a few minutes. Make sure you've got no injuries, no pains, and then, mix it up. Do anything you want.

Go fast. Go slow. Go uphill.

Go downhill. Use your arms more. Make it as interesting and varied as you can. .
