How To Do Big Hair

This video highlights a key procedure towards giving hair more volume, or "making it bigger". This is a procedure that the host commonly uses, and she presents it in a simple way so that the audience can use the style and process. Essentially a do-it-yourself video, it contains concise directions on giving your hair more mass.

I'm going to be showing you how to get big hair. You will just be using a really fine hair spray. Again, don't be really precise; just a little mist all over.

You don't need to look too overdone, so it's just a little bit of help, just to help you hold a little bit. Now, just take a small section. The reason I'm doing it for you on top for my model is just her roots tend to stay quite flat.

If you tend to find the sides of your hair do that, then do this technique more for the sides. It's a bit more of a personal thing, I'm just kind of helping you with your technique. So, we're back here and we're holding the hair straight to the head.

Get your comb, and comb straight down to the root. Make it really even, and try not to make it too bumpy. So, when you do finish, you do get to the end of your hair, it should almost stand up on end.

Now, see, already you've got so much height. Now, I'm going to do it a little bit more just through these sides. Change your angle slightly when you're working through the sides.

Kind of just work everything out from the head, so everything comes out in that direction. Don't worry if it looks really messy, it can all be brushed out. So, now, you see, I'm going to leave that section purely because it is easiest to brush over.

To make sure it all stays in, a quick mist of hairspray. Now, with a soft bristle brush, this will kind of take some of the back combing away without taking it all away completely. If you use a round brush, it might take too much of it away.

So, all you do is just literally what you can see in the mirror. You don't want it to look backcombed, you just want the hair just to look bigger than normal. So, wouldn't really hairspray this a lot now.

I would just only use a little bit of shine spray. Just for there, again, not too much. You don't want it to look greasy.

Just rough the hair, you're just styling using your hands. That's all you have to do - don't over think it, don't overwork it. That is how you create big hair. .
