How To Do Birthday Cake Decorating
Donna and Sam from the Buttercup Cake Shop show you how to decorate a birthday cake. These decorating techniques will help you decorate your cake like a professional. This recipe features edible glitter and butter-cream icing.

Ingredients
- icing sugar
- sugar paste
- premade cake
- edible glitter
- butter-cream icing
Step 1: Roll your Sugar Paste
Put a dash of icing sugar on your work surface. Use a rolling pin to smooth out the sugar paste. Roll out the sugar paste until it is big enough to cover the top and sides of your cake.
Step 2: Drape your Cake
Unroll the sugar paste over your cake so it neatly covers it. Take a pallet knife and cut off any excess sugar paste. Apply some border piping, use a star tip to pipe icing along the edge where the cake meets the board.
Step 3: Decorate your Cake
Colour some butter-cream with dye and pipe to the top of your cake for some colourful decoration or add a happy birthday message. Add some edible glitter and any other decorations you fancy. Serve.
